Support for the Industrial Heritage Region of Northern Bavaria association
The association "INO-Industriekulturregion Nordbayern e.V." now has a prominent advisory board. From now on, eleven people will advise the association on its way to researching, making more visible and shaping the industrial cultural heritage of Northern Bavaria.
The meeting took place at the Mönchshof museums, where the rich heritage of the brewing and baking industry in Kulmbach is on display in a former brewery.
Museen im Kulmbacher Mönchshof
he association's most recent general meeting had the perfect setting for its purpose: the meeting took place at the Museen im Mönchshof, where the rich heritage of the brewing and baking industry in Kulmbach is on display in a former brewery. The advisory board election was hosted by Dr. Helga Metzel, Managing Director of "Kulmbacher Museen im Mönchshof e.V." and an assessor on the INO board. The museums in the Mönchshof are so perfect because, like the whole of northern Bavaria, they can look back on a long, rich and particularly diverse industrial history.
Time and again, industrial developments have changed the northern Bavarian region, shaping its appearance - and its people. The history of this industrial region has not yet been told. With the founding of the association INO-Industriekulturregion Nordbayern e.V. and thus an "Industrial Culture Region of Northern Bavaria", the initiators from science and history education want to change this - and have now gained supporters from various socially relevant groups.
"We are delighted that we have managed to put together such a strong advisory board that covers the entire breadth of our planned activities," says Prof. Dr. Martin Ott, Director of the Institute for Franconian Regional History (IFLG) at the Universities of Bayreuth and Bamberg, and also 1st Chairman of the association.
Elected to the advisory board were:
- Wolfram Brehm (Managing Director of IHK-Oberfranken)
- Stephan Doll (Managing Director of DGB Mittelfranken)
- Prof. Joseph Hoppe (Member of the Board of Industrial Culture Berlin)
- Dr. Stefan Kley (Deputy Director of the State Office for Non-State Museums in Bavaria)
- Armin Kroder (District Administrator of Nürnberger Land)
- Prof. Dr. Julia Lehner (Mayor of the City of Nuremberg)
- Robert Misik (cultural scientist, journalist and non-fiction author, Vienna)
- Steffen Potstada (Member of the Management Board of Sparkasse Kulmbach-Kronach)
- Peter Reiß (Chairman of the Council of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, Mayor of Schwabach)
- Angelika Schäffer (Managing Director of the Franconian Tourism Association)
- Dr. Markus Zanner (Chancellor of the TU Nuremberg).
The association currently consists of 34 members and represents 17 museums from Upper and Middle Franconia and the Upper Palatinate. In addition to researching industrial heritage, the association members also want to improve the marketing of the museums to tourists.
