Bayreuth is not an unknown place for Prof. Dr. Anke Silvia Ulrich. She has already worked successfully with scientists from the UBT in the past as part of a DFG-funded project. Her doctoral supervisor PD Dr.-Ing. Mathias Galetz is also based in Bayreuth. Now Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anke Silvia Ulrich will take up the junior professorship Metallic Materials II at the University of Bayreuth on 1.10.2022.

Ulrich studied materials science at the TU Darmstadt in her Bachelor's degree and also completed her Master's degree in materials science with a focus on metallic materials in Darmstadt. She finally completed her doctorate on high-temperature materials at the DECHEMA Research Institute in Frankfurt.

The combination of excellent research and proximity to industry in Bayreuth is very appealing.

"The combination of excellent research and proximity to industry in Bayreuth is very appealing," says Prof. Anke Silvia Ulrich. She is also looking forward to working with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Glatzel (Chair of Metallic Materials). "I believe that we complement each other very well thematically," says Ulrich. In future, she will focus on improving oxidation & corrosion properties. "I also feel that alloy development is an important field of research," emphasises the junior professor. "It is already an old, but still very important topic."
