The award is endowed with US$2,000 and also includes a plaque and the opportunity to present the research results in an award lecture at the IBA conference.

The Early Career Research Award was established in 2016 and recognises exceptional contributions to the advancement of electrochemical energy conversion and storage. It is aimed at scientists in the early stages of their careers, typically up to ten years after completing a PhD degree in natural sciences or engineering.

"This award is a great honour and confirms the importance of my research for the development of sustainable energy storage solutions," said Matteo Bianchini.

Further information about the award can be found on the official IBA website:  https://www.international-battery-association.org
