University of Bayreuth Professor Appointed as Research Member at the European Corporate Governance Institute
Prof. Dr. Jessica Schmidt, holder of the Chair of Civil Law, German, European, and International Corporate and Capital Market Law (Civil Law I) at the University of Bayreuth, has been appointed as a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI).
The ECGI is a global research network and a non-profit scholarly association that provides a forum for debate and dialogue on key issues of corporate governance and promotes good corporate governance practices. It includes researchers, practitioners, and supporters from not only Europe but around the world. The aim of the ECGI is to conduct and disseminate research on corporate governance to aid in the formulation of good governance practices and the development of best methods, with a special emphasis on interdisciplinary cooperation in economics, law, finance, and management.
“I am very pleased to have been selected as a research member of the ECGI. This recognition not only strengthens my own research but also enhances the international profile of the University of Bayreuth. Through intensive exchange with leading experts worldwide and the opportunity to publish in the renowned ECGI Working Paper Series, new perspectives open up that sustainably promote interdisciplinary research and the reputation of the university,” explains Jessica Schmidt.
Research members of the ECGI are selected by a selection committee based on their exceptional contributions in the field of corporate governance. This prestigious position as an ECGI research member is highly esteemed in the academic community.
The ECGI serves as a meeting point for all those actively involved with corporate governance, ESG, and stewardship. ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. These three dimensions are crucial factors considered by investors, companies, and regulatory authorities to assess the sustainability and ethical impact of an organization. ECGI facilitates the exchange between academics, business professionals, and policymakers of various seniority levels and geographical locations.
