Landesbund für Vogelschutz honours Bayreuth doctoral student

For the second time, the LBV also awarded a Young People's Commitment Prize at a general meeting. The award recognises active members "who particularly support the work of the LBV with innovative ideas, successful cooperations or large-scale campaigns", the association says on its website. In addition to Peter Stimmler, six other young people were honoured by the board of the 100,000-strong association. The award was given for Peter Stimmler's "immense commitment in the LBV university group", which he founded three years ago. He himself reports: "Our group explains ecological connections in nature to students during excursions and lectures and imparts knowledge of species. We also support the dipper, for example, by installing nesting boxes and map house martins in the city area." What's important to him: "Sharing your own enthusiasm with people and taking responsibility for the world and our common future with practical actions."

Peter Stimmler is a doctoral student with junior professor Prof. Dr. Johanna Pausch. In his PhD, he is researching the influence of inorganic nutrients on climate gas release from Arctic permafrost soils - a highly explosive and currently extremely important topic.
