Arlt studied economics and engineering in Tübingen, Hagen and Munich from 2007. She obtained her Master's degree in economics in 2015. “Since then, I've been working at the interface between economics and technology,” says Arlt. She initially worked for an energy policy consultancy in Berlin before moving to the University of Freiburg in 2017 to complete her doctorate in business informatics. She completed the majority of her research in the USA at Stanford University, the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Berkeley Lab. At the end of 2020, Arlt returned to Germany to LMU Munich, where she held a postdoctoral position for around two and a half years. Most recently, she was a junior research group leader at the ifo Institute in Munich.

At the University of Bayreuth, Arlt works both at the Faculty of Law and Economics and at BayBatt. “This is a very exciting position for me because it is an interdisciplinary position between economics and technology,” says Arlt. She wants to further intensify this interdisciplinarity through the existing links with colleagues from engineering, natural sciences and law as well as the Fraunhofer Institute.

Arlt's research focuses on the charging infrastructure for electromobility and the integration of electric cars into the power grid. Together with researchers from other disciplines, Arlt wants to further advance the decarbonization of electricity and transport in Germany. “I'm also looking forward to educating students on campus about sustainability and the necessary interdisciplinary approaches,” says Arlt.
