More space for research funded by the Hightech Agenda
The NW IV building is scheduled to be occupied in early 2024, so the first construction machines are already rolling in.
Things are happening in the western part of the Bayreuth University campus: since the beginning of March 2023, a construction site has been set up there that can be heard and seen. With funds from the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria, the office and laboratory building NW IV is being built in modular construction for a total of €13.2 million. It will be used by professorships in the context of the Hightech Agenda, including the professorship for cellular biomechanics.
Construction by the Markgraf company is expected to last until the end of 2023, as the new building is to be ready for occupancy at the beginning of 2024. A total area of 1,164 m² is planned, which will include office space, laboratory space and also a seminar room.
"I am very pleased that the new building will provide us with urgently needed space and modern laboratories for our researchers. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the commitment of the UBT's Central Technical Department and the Bayreuth State Building Authority for making the realization possible as a joint effort alongside many other activities and projects taking place at the same time," says Chancellor Dr. Nicole Kaiser.
Due to the implementation within the framework of the Hightech Agenda, everything is happening very quickly: After the construction site was set up on March 1, 2023, the earthworks already began in the third week of March. In parallel, the modular components are already being produced. The foundations of the new building will be started at the end of March, the prefabricated parts are to arrive at the campus in May and will be assembled.
The shell is to be in place by the end of August, and the interior work is to be completed by December 2023, so that the scheduled handover to UBT will take place before Christmas.
