Achim Förster

Achim Förster, a native of Würzburg, studied law with subsidiary studies in European law at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg and at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis (USA) before coming to Bayreuth.

In 2008, he was awarded a doctorate by the University of Bayreuth (DFG Research Training Group "Intellectual Property and Public Domain") for a copyright thesis on the US fair use doctrine. Förster also held teaching positions at the University of Bayreuth for several years. Starting in the summer semester of 2007, he was at the University of Bayreuth until the winter semester of 2011/12.

Förster completed his legal clerkship in the Bamberg Higher Regional Court District, then went into the judicial service of the Free State of Bavaria. Since 2015, he has held the professorship for copyright, media law, and media policy at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.

The University Council of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt elected Prof. Dr. Achim Förster Vice President of the University on 22 October 2021. His term of office ends on 14 March 2024. In his role, he is responsible for teaching, studies, and continuing education.
