aluMPI – the Alumni and Sponsors Association MPI
The network of dedicated alumni of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science presents itself and its numerous activities.
An essential part of any successful study program is its inevitable end
- and unfortunately, that end is often just a thick envelope in the mailbox: a
report card delivered by mail, that's it, goodbye.
In order to make this important step in the life of a student a little more personal, the alumni and supporters association MPI University of Bayreuth e.V. (MPI stands for Faculty I Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science) has set itself the goal of organizing an annual graduation ceremony. (MPI stands for Faculty I of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science) has set itself the goal of organizing an annual graduation party at which the degree achieved, whether it be a bachelor's, master's, state examination, or doctorate, can be celebrated in a proper manner, and success toasted with family and friends in a festive atmosphere.
For the 10th anniversary of the association in 2019, the celebration was already a bit bigger. On November 2, 2019, graduates, their friends and relatives, together with numerous alumni of the faculty, met in high spirits and enjoyed live music at the Evangelische Gemeindehaus to celebrate this anniversary with a festive ball. The response of the nearly 200 guests was so overwhelming that the next graduation celebration will take place as a ball on December 4, 2021 - even without an association anniversary.

Over the years, the annual graduation ceremony has been joined by numerous other activities in the association's life:
A special focus is on career information events to give students an insight into life after graduation. We can rely on a network of committed alumni who regularly make themselves available for lectures and information events. For some years now, the lectures have been supplemented by excursions to regional employers in the field of MINT. In the area of career information, we can attest to the fruitful cooperation with the staff unit for career services and corporate contacts, which always supports us with great commitment at our events.
As part of its alumni work, the association ensures that graduates do not lose contact with their university. To this end, we organize regular alumni meetings, the last of which will be held as part of the anniversary ball in 2019. Recently, the aluMPI Stammtisch get-together has also been held every first Tuesday of the month, to which both alumni and students are invited. Due to the current coronavirus restrictions, the last Stammtisch took place online, which allowed us to welcome many participants from outside Bayreuth. Current information about the next Stammtisch can be found on our homepage, see Contact.
