The university celebrated its birthday

The centrepiece of the University of Bayreuth's annual academic celebration on 24 November 2022 was a moderated discussion entitled "In the midst of the crisis: What science can - and must - achieve now". Dr Anna-Lena Scholz, editor in the Knowledge Department of DIE ZEIT, and Professor Dr Hannah Schmid-Petri, Chair of Science Communication at the University of Passau, spoke on this topic in the Audimax.

The talk was flanked by greetings from the Bavarian State Minister for Science and the Arts, Markus Blume, and the Lord Mayor of the City of Bayreuth, Thomas Ebersberger, as well as reviews from the University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible and other members of the university management.

In addition, the University Medal was awarded to Prof. Dr. Stephan Clemens. Dr. Dorothee Strunz and Dr. Heinrich Strunz were appointed honorary senator.
