Zoom instead of ZUV: one year of digital student advising
Postponed application deadlines, delayed start of studies and online studies: everything was different in the pandemic year.
For prospective students, first-year students and students, everything was different in the pandemic year 2020: postponed application deadlines, delayed start of studies and online studies. Extraordinary study challenges have remained to this day. To continue providing reliable service, the Central Student Advisory Service has developed numerous digital information, advising and support formats.
Prospective students with and without high school diplomas, first-year students, and students are the three main groups of people that the Central Student Advisory Service supports with information, advising, and event offerings related to studying.
In 2020, the University Information Day in February was the last major event on campus before Corona, with more than 40 program items. During the pandemic year, new digital event formats were designed and implemented for all target groups. First-year students can now find out online about the range of courses on offer, the allocation of study places and life in Bayreuth in the "Studying in Bayreuth" event. Since October 2020, first-year students have been welcomed and prepared for their studies via Zoom with the event "Welcome to the university - interesting facts about starting your studies in Bayreuth".
Students who are currently having to deal with a lot on their own due to the social isolation caused by the pandemic are supported by the webinar "Doubts about studying? - Don't panic!". In addition, contact options and Internet offerings of the Central Student Advisory Service have also been expanded and geared to the special needs of online studies. This applies not least to the core task of personal advising - which currently takes place by telephone and Zoom. All those seeking advice are welcome and can make a personal appointment!
If you would like to get to know the tasks and goals of the Central Student Advisory Service even better, you can take a look at the recently published Annual Report 2020. There you will find, among other things, interesting facts and figures about the counseling services, an explanation of the institution's understanding of counseling, and an overview of internal and external cooperation partners.
