The Chair of Music Theatre Studies hosts a digital opera lounge every second Friday. The format complements the event series "Opera Moves", which will take place online in the current winter semester 2020/2021.

The digital opera lounge gives us the opportunity to continue to exchange ideas about performances, since joint excursions to opera productions are not feasible at all or only to a limited extent due to the pandemic.

The opera lounge is dedicated to operas of the 17th and 18th centuries. After a short introduction to the respective selected production, it will be seen individually and yet together/simultaneously online. Afterwards we will exchange ideas about Zoom. All opera lovers and people interested in opera are cordially invited!

Dates in early 2021 (beginning at 6:30 p.m.):

  • January 22: "Fidelio" by Ludwig van Beethoven at the Theater Bonn
  • January 29: "Xerxes" by George Frideric Handel at Oper am Rhein

You would like to participate? Gladly! To do so, please enroll in the digital opera lounge course in the e-learning portal of the University of Bayreuth (to be found under this search term in the permanent courses and colloquia). There you will not only receive further information on the productions, but also all the necessary links for the respective Zoom meeting.
