Digital Sciences at the University of Bayreuth
On 9 February 2024, the "BayLDS Day" will take place for the second time at the University of Bayreuth. On this day, you will have the opportunity to gain insights into current research and projects relating to the digital sciences at UBT.
BayLDS Day 2024 will take place in the foyer of the RWI on 9 February. UBTaktuell spoke to Dr Adrian Roßner, Project Coordinator HTA, to find out what BayLDS is all about.
UBTaktuell: What is BayLDS?
Adrian Roßner: BayLDS is the "Bayreuth Lab for Digital Sciences", which is a network of researchers and lecturers working in the fields of artificial intelligence and IT. First and foremost, it is an exchange platform where people can network across faculties and disciplines in order to initiate joint projects, inform each other and utilise and create synergies at the University of Bayreuth.
Februar 2024!
What are the highlights of this year's event?
The BayLDS Day will take place for the second time in 2024 and is primarily intended to show which projects and research projects currently exist at the University of Bayreuth in the field of digital sciences. In this respect, it could best be compared to an internal fair where researchers and lecturers give an insight into their current work and exchange ideas with colleagues. The success of the first event last year has led us to repeat the day in 2024, although we have expanded the programme slightly: This time, representatives from industry will also be present alongside the scientists to shed light on possible applications of the research. Finally, there will also be an exciting keynote speech by Prof Dr Sascha Kurz on the topic of "Discrete Structures and their Challenges".
How can I get involved now?
In total, over 60 posters will present very different approaches to the digital sciences from researchers and lecturers from all faculties at the University of Bayreuth. All participants will be on site on 9 February to talk to them and exchange ideas - and to make networking even easier, the "BayLDS Lounge" will open at 12 noon, where you can retreat in peace and quiet. In this respect, we are very much looking forward to many visitors - regardless of whether they work with "Digital Sciences" themselves or not: With the BayLDS Day, we show how diverse research at the University of Bayreuth is and where there are opportunities for joint projects!
