“Because we care about diversity!”
In marking German Diversity Day 2020, the University of Bayreuth has signed the Diversity Charter.
University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible with the signed Diversity Charter.
By signing the charter, University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible is reaffirming the will to promote equal opportunities and diversity at the University of Bayreuth, and to create a working environment that is free of prejudice and discrimination. Die Charta ist eine Selbstverpflichtung, Vielfalt und Wertschätzung in der Arbeitswelt zu fördern.
The University has firmly anchored the realization of equal opportunities, the promotion of diversity, and has determined action against discrimination in its overall strategy.
The University of Bayreuth has been committed to providing a fair and non-discriminatory working environment for many years:
- It was first certified as a Family-Friendly University in 2006.
- It offers its employees flexible childcare options, as well as outwork and teleworking.
- Since 2013, it has been regularly agreeing targets with its faculties to implement equal opportunities between the sexes, and to increase the proportion of women in research.
- In 2018, it became the third Bavarian university to receive the DHV (German Association of University Professors and Lecturers) quality seal for fair and transparent appointment negotiations.
Current measures to promote equal opportunities and diversity include, among other things, the establishment of a training program for employees with management or advisory responsibility, and the development of anti-discrimination guidelines.
