Bayreuth Controlling student awarded a REHAU Economic Prize 2022
The thesis was written at the Chair of Controlling and combines three main research areas of this chair.
The former Bayreuth student Julia Petermann was awarded a REHAU Economy Prize 2022 (3rd place) for her master's thesis "The influence of corporate sustainability performance on the assumption of risk in mergers & acquisitions - an empirical analysis". As part of her master's thesis, Ms. Petermann found out that more corporate sustainability performance leads to a lower willingness to take risks in corporate transactions, with corporate governance mechanisms and voluntary and mandatory reporting reinforcing this effect.
The REHAU Prize honors very good academic achievements by students in business administration work in all "sub-disciplines" in German-speaking countries that are related to international industrial companies or that can provide valuable suggestions for them. The aim of this prize is to create a closer connection between theory and practice and to stimulate scientific debate. The work, which was written at the Bayreuth Chair in Controlling, combines three of the Chair's main research areas – the impact of sustainability, mergers & acquisitions and the investigation of individual risk-taking. The chair holder Prof. Dr. Friedrich Sommer is happy for the winner: "The prize awarded to Ms. Petermann shows that Bayreuth Controlling students are already achieving economically and socially relevant results in their master's thesis. With the help of their training, they can take a well-founded position on current issues based on empirical analyzes and create added value for corporate practice. Congratulations, dear Julia Petermann!”
