empowerMINTDoc – new programme for female students interested in doctoral studies in STEM subjects
The Equal Opportunities Department of the University of Bayreuth is offering a new seminar and event programme.
The twelve-month empowerMINTDoc programme is aimed at female bachelor’s students (in their 5th semester and above) and master’s students of STEM subjects at the University of Bayreuth. In empowerMINTDoc, participants are encouraged to think about a doctorate as a conscious career step and to network with others. Participants have the opportunity to take part in seminars, peer mentoring, and networking events (talks and information).
After a kick-off workshop, seminars on network analysis, project management, and skills assessment will take place during the programme. All seminars are to be conducted by trainers who fundamentally think about gender and diversity as key competencies and can sensitise participants to the issues of unconscious bias and the glass ceiling. Furthermore, participants will meet regularly for peer mentoring. They will also have the opportunity to meet role models and derive inspiration for their own career paths through their career biographies (talks). In addition, information events on relevant topics – such as financing and scholarships – are scheduled to take place (Info). Finally, participants are invited to participate in joint reflection and a closing workshop.

Once the programme is over, the Follow Up Programme will kick in: Former participants, the alumnae, will have the opportunity to participate in Talks and Info events, as well as in the networking meetings offered regularly.
