AI is no longer just a topic for the future – it is already changing our daily lives, and higher education is no exception. Tools like ChatGPT open up new possibilities, but also raise important questions: How can we make meaningful use of AI in study and teaching? What opportunities and challenges does this present for all of us at the University of Bayreuth?

To explore these crucial issues together and help shape the future of teaching, the Students’ Parliament and the Centre for University Teaching invite you to the event “University Teaching in Dialogue: Between ChatGPT and Campus – Are We Using AI Meaningfully in Teaching?”. The event offers an open platform for exchange between students and academic staff. It will begin with two keynote speeches highlighting the relevance of AI in the world of work and its significance for higher education – by Prof. Dr. Agnes Koschmider, Chair of Business Informatics at the University of Bayreuth, and Martin Braun, co-founder of NeuroForge GmbH & Co. KG, a start-up established by five University of Bayreuth alumni to support local companies in applying AI technologies, particularly in areas such as production, logistics, manufacturing processes and quality control.

Following the keynotes, participants will delve deeper into the topic at several themed stations. In a World Café format, discussions will focus on how AI can be applied in various areas of university life – from exams to learning outside lectures. The event provides space to share experiences, develop future scenarios, and formulate ideas on how to engage with AI at the University of Bayreuth going forward.
