The Future of the EU - Rotary Lecture with Monika Hohlmeier
Another highlight of the evening was the Rotary Lecture by Monika Hohlmeier, Member of the European Parliament and daughter of former Bavarian Minister President Franz Josef Strauß. In her lecture, titled “Europe at the Crossroads: What’s Next for the European Union?”, she critically and constructively addressed the current challenges facing the European Union.
Monika Hohlmeier discussed key issues such as managing global crises, strengthening the European community, and Germany’s role within the EU. She spoke on the tensions between member states, economic challenges, and the need for greater cooperation in areas such as security, environmental policy, and digitalisation. Through her clear and impressive analysis, Hohlmeier also presented potential solutions, emphasising the importance of European unity for future stability and peace on the continent.
The Rotary Lecture thus not only offered profound insights into the current political landscape but also sparked lively discussions among the guests.
The Rotary Club Bayreuth-Eremitage extends its heartfelt thanks to all those involved in making this event a success and takes pride in contributing to public discourse and promoting education and knowledge through such events.
