Sometimes, a great idea comes to mind. And sometimes, this idea just won’t let you go. A scrap of an idea can become a fully-fledged concept. Because the University of Bayreuth has many creative minds, many compelling ideas become functioning business models at the Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. For example, "Myriad", a young company that has developed systems for growing fruiting vegetables, herbs, and medicinal plants indoors.

Or "InContAlert", a start-up that uses a small sensor to help people get their bladder function back under control. The list of start-ups from graduates of the University of Bayreuth is long and storied. And it is set to become even longer.

Participation possible until November 15

Yasmine Yahyaoui, Research Assistant at the Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, has now initiated a special competition for all the ideas of Bayreuth students. "We are looking for creative ideas for a problem solution that may have already been recorded somewhere and more or less thought through, and we see great potential among students at the University of Bayreuth," says Yahyaoui. That is why there is now an ideas competition at the Institute. Ideas can be submitted until 15 November.

This will be followed by a pre-selection by the organisers. The best eight teams will already win a pitch training session, to be able to show what they and their idea are made of at the final event. Pitching will take place in front of an audience, and a top-class jury consisting of company representatives from REHAU New Ventures and Lamilux, as well as experienced representatives from the Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the University of Bayreuth, will then evaluate the ideas. AOK Nordbayern and the companies REHAU New Ventures and Lamilux are supporting the competition and have donated prize money totalling € 1,900. First place will receive prize money of around € 800.

To take part in the competition, idea providers must outline their idea and provide information on the idea, target group, feasibility, business model, and market. Further information on the competition can be found on the Institute's website.
