Massive Open Online Courses at the University of Bayreuth
An innovative online project in teaching
MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Course: research-based online teaching, accessible worldwide, free of charge, and attractive for international students. A MOOC consists of different learning units: videos, texts, or other formats. Interactive elements such as forum discussions, quizzes, surveys, and various methods of research-based learning contribute to course success.
Lights, camera, action! We have already started shooting videos and look forward to showing you the results.
MOOC-Team
In 2012, the popularity of the learning method literally exploded. As a result, the number of online platforms specializing in MOOCs shot up commensurately. The best known are edX, Coursera, and Futurelearn, but there are many more. Each platform has its own advantages and areas of expertise. Udemy, for example, offers many courses on specific skills. The biggest names in the international university landscape such as Harvard, MIT, and TUM typically meet on edX. MOOCs are excellent learning tools that help participants to pursue their educational goals, acquire knowledge and skills, and solve problems: exam preparation, university preparation, academic development, career advancement, career change, business training, personal inclinations, and much more.
