On 9 July, the University of Bayreuth opened its doors on Campus Day to introduce prospective students from all over the world to Germany's most beautiful campus university and to give them the opportunity to find out about the wide range of courses offered by the University of Bayreuth. For the first time, Faculty VII in Kulmbach also took part in the open day, inviting not only prospective students but the entire Kulmbach population to take a look behind the scenes.

Almost the entire team of Faculty VII, including professors, (non-)academic staff and student assistants, worked with great commitment on 9 July to offer visitors to the Campus Day in Kulmbach an eventful and informative day.

In front of the Fritz Hornschuch Villa, Dr Michael Pfitzner and Dr Michael Hohl welcomed the arriving visitors with fresh popcorn on behalf of the University Association. Prof. Kai Purnhagen's team presented innovative foods based on insect proteins and invited the particularly daring to try them. The info area on the 2nd floor of the Fritz Hornschuch Villa was also well attended. Prospective students, university members, but also numerous Kulmbach students took the opportunity to get information about studying and student life in Kulmbach at the information stands of the student council and the student service. Some first-semester students, who already had their admission for the coming winter semester in the bag, also used the day to get to know their new place of study and the campus team better. The presentation of the Bachelor's degree programme "Food and Health Sciences" by Prof. Laura König and Helke Biehl also met with great interest.

Campus coordinator Dr Susanne Strebin took the interested visitors on a tour of the faculty's premises in the Fritz Hornschuch Villa, where they could marvel at an exhibition of architecture students from Coburg University of Applied Sciences on the subject of "Visions for the New Building". In the newly occupied laboratory rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Fritz shopping centre, the guests could not only help themselves to the "fake food" buffet by Jun. Prof. Laura König's "fake food" buffet, but also to assist the natural science professors in the fields of food metabolism (Prof. Susanne Baldermann), Nutritional Biochemistry (Prof. Janin Henkel-Oberländer), Crop Plant Genetics (Prof. Corina Vlot-Schuster) and Bioanalytical Sciences and Food Analysis (Prof. Andreas Römpp) with small experiments.

In the KulmUNIty garden on the former Kaufplatz site, Prof. Tina Bartelmeß, together with Anne Rauch (Head of the Health Region plus office) and her team of Bachelor students, explained in a very vivid way what nutrition, health and community gardening have to do with each other.
