Minister of Science Markus Blume visited Kulmbach
Bavarian Science Minister Markus Blume came to Kulmbach to open the new rooms of Faculty VII. A lot of know-how and the latest technology awaited him. And he brought a promise with him.
The construction of the Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Health, Nutrition is an outstanding project of the Hightech Agenda Bavaria. Bavaria's Science Minister Markus Blume opened the new faculty rooms of the seventh faculty of the University of Bayreuth in Kulmbach on November 10. Science Minister Markus Blume emphasized: “The Kulmbach spirit is alive! The Faculty of Life Sciences is a success story. The University of Bayreuth has created something very special here with creativity and pragmatism. With more than 1,000 students, the Kulmbach campus will be our Bavarian think tank for the future topic of nutrition - our Bavarian fillet piece when it comes to innovation, know-how and research on food.”
The university is thus further expanding its already existing profile field of “food and health sciences” and is gaining “even greater charisma.” The State of Bavaria purchased the property at the former freight station in Kulmbach in April 2022. Currently, the coordination of the project application for the new building is on the home stretch, says the minister and declared: “The new campus building is coming!”
At the future university site in Kulmbach, Blume not only promised that the new building will come. He also spoke about the design of the construction project. “I am pleased that the Minister of Science has made it clear here that he supports our ideas for a sustainable energy supply for the new faculty building”, said Dr. Nicole Kaiser, Provost of the University of Bayreuth.
The President of the University of Bayreuth, Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible, said: "Faculty VII reflects what the University of Bayreuth has always been about: dynamic and interdisciplinary research and teaching on the big questions of the day. We are grateful that the state government supports us in designing innovative study programmes in Kulmbach and in attracting outstanding researchers to the location."
