Spökos networking in Hamburg

A group of 22 sports economics students went on a practical excursion to Hamburg. The first stop in Hamburg was Sportfive, where the group was welcomed and, after a short introduction, taken to the roof terrace of the building with an impressive view of the Außenalster. There, the students learned more about Sportfive's fields of activity and the topic of e-commerce and hospitality services in the field of sports marketing. They were also introduced to Sportfive's sustainability concept and had their questions answered.

Another item on the programme was a visit to the advertising agency Jung von Matt. Here, the students were first given a more detailed explanation of the company's philosophy and then also of the Jung von Matt Sports division. It became clear that the company and its employees always strive for excellence and maintain partnerships with Bosch, FIFA and McDonalds. The different areas of work were covered through presentations and the group was given a short tour of the building.

Afterwards, the students visited the office of FC St. Pauli. There they got a guided tour of the stadium and the hospitality area. Martin Drust, Brand, Culture and Marketing Strategy Manager of the club drew attention to the fact that one has to deal critically with one's own brand identity and answered numerous questions from the excursion participants.

The students then headed to the SPOBIS Conference, the largest industry gathering in the sports business. There, they listened to interactive presentations by employees from different business areas, which gave the participants insights into the company's work areas and career paths. The Managing Director, Marco Klewenhagen, also talked about the company. The participants were then invited to the After-Work and had the opportunity to ask in-depth questions and make contacts.
