Coming from the city, you can see the construction site on the left-hand side opposite the university entrance: the new student residence at Tappert II is being built directly opposite the university. 185 individual flats are to be built there and will be ready for occupancy as early as the 2024/25 winter semester.

We met with the project manager from the construction company Riedel Bau and the Managing Director of the Studentenwerk Oberfranken on the construction site to find out about the progress of the project.

UBTaktuell: Ms Neeb, how many flats are being built here and how big are they?

Nora Neeb: A total of 185 individual flats with a size of 20-21 square metres are being built here. Almost all of them have the same layout and are mirrored - each one conveniently has its own toilet and bathroom with shower, an anteroom and an integrated small kitchen.

The rooms are modern and fully furnished with a bed, wardrobe, desk and seating, so that modern living is possible and you can move straight in without having to worry about anything.

There are also two communal rooms that are connected via a kitchen and can be booked individually for events or birthdays, for example.

When is the building due to be completed?

The planned completion date is August 2024. We are currently right on schedule with no upcoming delays and are looking forward to completing the shell of the building. We will therefore be ready for occupancy on time according to the current status.

What are the advantages of this student residence compared to others in the region?

Firstly, of course, the proximity to the university, which is right opposite. Furthermore, the appearance of the building, for example, there will be bevelled window reveals on the façade, the colour scheme will be very much integrated into the environment with different earth tones and much more. This will result in many advantages not only in terms of the location, but also in terms of the attractiveness of living.

The costs for a room in a hall of residence according to SWO:

The basic rent is 260 euros, which is fixed by law due to the state subsidy. And we currently assume service charges of around 90 euros. This puts us well below the price of private accommodation.
