New at the Kulmbach Campus: Susanne Baldermann is Professor for Food Metabolome
Prof. Dr. Susanne Baldermann has been appointed as Professor for Food Metabolome at Faculty VII of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition and Health at the 1. January 2021.
“The scientific focus is on secondary metabolites and their importance for the quality of plant-based foods. The group has extensive experience and competence in the field of mass spectrometry. By combining the findings from target and non-target instrumental analytical approaches, we are able to capture metabolite compositions and complex, dynamic changes of biological systems. We aim to use this expertise to address current research questions related to nutrition and health at the Kulmbach campus”, explains Susanne Baldermann.
“I see imparting this knowledge in the interdisciplinary degree programmes as an exciting challenge and a great chance, if above opportunity. I hope”, she says, “that with my teaching I can inspire students for current key issues in the areas of food, nutrition, and health, and, demonstrate the challenges associated with a healthy, high-quality, and sustainable diet”, explains the new professor at the Kulmbach Campus.
