Bayreuth expertise in demand in Dresden
The Research Institute for Music Theatre at the University of Bayreuth advises the singers of the Dresden Music Festival for the performance of Wagner's opera "Rheingold".

On 14 June, "Rheingold" by Richard Wagner will be performed as part of the Dresden Music Festival. This performance was already developed in 2021 with the participation of the Research Institute for Music Theatre (fimt) at the University of Bayreuth in the DFG knowledge transfer project "Wagnergesang im 21. Jahrhundert - historisch informiert" in Cologne and Amsterdam. Prof. Dr. Anno Mungen, Dominik Frank and Milena Galvan Odar are also involved in the new edition in Dresden.
The DFG project encourages the further dissemination of scientific results already achieved, which are to be made accessible to a wider public. The Rheingold concert in Dresden thus presents not only Wagner's music, but also - in a very special way - scientific findings. The project to develop and perform a historically informed "Ring of the Nibelung" will be continued with the production in Dresden.
The Bayreuth researchers led by Prof. Dr. Anno Mungen will support the singers in developing their parts in a historically informed singing and declamation style. Historical performance practice is at the centre of the Bayreuth expertise. The concert will also be accompanied by a comprehensive academic programme.
