UBT Alumnus is Country Manager at Amazon
Rocco Bräuniger studied business administration at the University of Bayreuth. He thinks back fondly on his years as a student.
UBTaktuell: Mr. Bräuniger, please finish the following sentence: For me, Bayreuth is...
... a part of my life with great memories. I met friends for life there. Our families still meet every year and we like to go on holiday together.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the University of Bayreuth?
The lively life on campus, which strengthens the sense of community. I thought it was great there - everything is centrally located, well connected and you always meet someone to exchange ideas, to study and not least to do things together.
What do you particularly like to think back on?
There are countless moments... For example, I like to remember the University Football Cup. We called ourselves "Team Herzbuben" - in reference to our sponsor and supporter Prof. Herz (VWL). We made it to the final, only to lose to a team of sports economists. But we saw ourselves as moral victors and had conquered hearts - not only Prof. Herz's. That was a great example of how close the professors are to the students.
What did you focus on during your studies?
Marketing with Prof. Böhler and Service Management with Prof. Woratschek - both topics that have accompanied me throughout my professional career.
Looking back, would you decide to study business administration again?
Absolutely: My business studies in Bayreuth were the foundation for everything that came professionally. I am very grateful for that!
