Moderation talents wanted!
Bayreuth's UniRadio Schalltwerk is once again looking for new presenters. All students of the University of Bayreuth can apply until 9 January 2023.
Two voices, spoken contributions, lots of music: these are the ingredients that no Schalltwerk programme should be without. And these two voices that represent the university radio programme are now being sought again. A new presenter duo is to start in the summer semester.
"You don't need any previous experience," explains Julika Schnurrer. Together with Maike Gutzeit, she forms the chief editorial team of the university radio and has been there for several semesters. "The focus is on being able to try things out." And that's what the budding presenters can do. The programme is broadcast every Monday from 8 to 9 p.m. on Radio Galaxy Oberfranken. In this way, the university radio reaches listeners beyond the borders of the University of Bayreuth.
"Schalltwerk is also about the learning process," says Maike Gutzeit, "you can see how much you can improve within a year. Within a year, because the moderation job is limited to two semesters. "We always start in the summer semester with two new voices," explains Julika Schnurrer. In addition to the desire for something new, the future show hosts also have to bring time with them. "You have to reckon with about five hours a week," she says. "Recording the show is the main effort, but of course we also always debrief and then plan the next show."
Not only the presenters and the editors-in-chief are involved in the programme. The editorial team is very open and is always happy to welcome new faces. "You can just come," says Maike Gutzeit. There is always a productive and positive atmosphere. "Anyone new is welcome," she says, "and you notice that we are a real community, but are still open to interested people, even if you can't come to the editorial meeting every week."
Members of the editorial team other than the presenter duo also get airtime at Schalltwerk: all members of the editorial team record contributions, do interviews or research various topics. The students also learn at Schalltwerk how exactly to plan, research and implement such a contribution. On the one hand, they simply have the opportunity to try things out, and on the other hand, they take part in regular workshops.
If you would like to be a presenter, you can apply by sending an email to info.schalltwerk@uni-bayreuth.de. The casting will take place on 14 January.
