For more than 20 years, the non-profit association Science on Stage Deutschland has been working for a sustainable improvement in STEM education that inspires students. The initiative starts directly at the source: With the teachers. The association's activities include training courses, teaching materials, international projects and much more. At the heart of all activities, however, is the National Science on Stage Education Festival, which takes place every two years at different locations. This year, the festival comes to Bavaria and the University of Bayreuth for the first time!

3 days, 39 innovative projects

For three days, from September 29 to October 01, all participants will gather at the University's Faculty of Law and Economics to exchange ideas about STEM education of the future, to learn and to network.

The focus of the event will be the Education Market. Here, a total of 39 innovative projects will be on display at booths that have been developed by teachers and tested in their own classrooms.

In addition to projects on the topic of sustainability, there will also be festival projects that focus on the area of diversity or are designed to get even elementary school children excited about STEM. In addition to presenting their ideas at booths, the teachers will also introduce their classroom projects in more detail in short presentations.

All participating teachers submitted their project ideas in advance and were selected for the festival by a panel of experts. Nine of the selected submissions came from teachers working in Bavaria.

Workshops are another focus of the educational festival. The program includes topics such as "Energy Harvesting" or "Your own weather station in 45 minutes". The regional MINT initiatives Technik - Zukunft in Bayern, Girls'Day Akademie, TAO Schülerforschungszentrum, MINT-EC Bayern, MINTphilmal e.V. and sketchometry will also be on site to present their work.

On Open Day, September 30, Science on Stage, together with the University of Bayreuth, invites interested (prospective) STEM teachers to visit the festival from 9:30 am to 6 pm. Registrations for this are still possible until September 10 via the Science on Stage website. Participation and catering on site are completely free of charge. A certificate of participation will be issued.
