Self-guided campus tour of the campus of the University of Bayreuth

Anyone who wants to get to know the beautiful campus of the University of Bayreuth better and/or do something for their fitness now has the opportunity to do so. Students, people interested in studying, staff and other visitors: You are all invited to take the self-guided campus tour on a prepared circular route to get a better overview of the various buildings on the university campus.

The circuit is a proud 2.5 km long and is ideal for getting to know the entire campus. Katja Schnürer and Andrea Kreuzer from the student advisory service at the University of Bayreuth came up with the idea when they kept receiving requests from prospective students. "Potential students often wanted to take a spontaneous look at their future place of study, even at the weekend," says Andrea Kreuzer.

The route of the campus tour begins at the Central University Administration (ZUV), which is located right next to the Student Union. It then continues past the Sports Science building, along Ringstraße to the buildings of the Faculty of Law and Economics. There the path leads to the Humanities II building and past the refectory to the Rondell, the centre of the university grounds.

At the Natural Sciences I building, the home of the biologists and chemists, the path leads to the picturesque lake at the Audimax. Here, the steps that extend to the romantic little pond invite you to linger. From the Audimax, the circular route then runs along the Ringstraße past the geoscientists' building and the engineering buildings (FAN) towards the Natural Sciences III building and from there to the Natural Sciences II building, where the mathematics and physics chairs are located. The route then curves around the Ringstraße to the Ecological-Botanical Garden, a gem and visitor magnet at the university.

The circular route can be walked or driven on without steps. The campus is freely accessible at all times. Toilets can be found in almost all buildings on weekdays, some library buildings (ZB, RW) are usually open on weekends and the Ecological-Botanical Garden (ÖBG) on public holidays. In the refectory and cafeterias of the Studentenwerk, you can only pay with your campus card or a special guest card. You can use cash to buy food in a cafeteria in the RW building. At certain times there is also a café in the Glass House or you can use the vending machines in the gallery in the foyer of the greenhouses in the ÖBG.
