Summer Feeling enters the hot phase of planning

800 tonnes of sand, 600 active athletes and a 15 square metre screen. Once you've experienced the summer feeling on the university beach, you won't soon forget the event. Louis Loeser felt the same way. Or something like that, because even without having experienced the Summer Feeling at all, that's exactly why he was drawn to the University of Bayreuth. "I wanted to study sports and then heard about Summer Feeling at the student information day and saw a video, which appealed to me directly." Now he is one of the four main organisers of Summer Feeling 2024.

A total of 43 people will make up the Summer Feelings 2024 team. Plus countless volunteers. But only a third of the 43 people have been confirmed. "We are now in the hot phase of finding a team," says Louis Loeser. The team members can have their work for Summer Feeling credited to their studies. There will again be a Bachelor's seminar for sports economists. In addition, students from various media studies programmes can contribute their work. Information on how to apply will be available soon on the Summer Feeling Instagram channel and via the newsletters of the participating chairs.

The media scientists are mainly wanted for the Marketing & PR department. The other departments are Sponsorship & Raffle, Competition Management, Technology & Logistics, Catering, Deco & Volunteers and Side Events. "These are experiences that you don't learn like this even in an internship," Loeser is certain. "There is always a fire to put out somewhere, you are on duty and under power for the entire twelve days."

A total of three public viewings (the European Championship group matches of the German men's national football team) are to take place. In addition, uni-internal tournaments on beach soccer, beach volleyball and roundnet will take place. Applications for external tournaments are also underway: UBT would like to organise the German University Championships in beach volleyball and the adh-Open in beach soccer.

"It is also important to us to combine sport, culture and lifestyle," Loeser emphasises. That's why there will also be "side events". These include a sustainability day, a children's and family day, as well as various parties, morning sports or a Weißwurst breakfast directly at the beach.

At the last Summer Feeling, 30,000 visitors came to the university beach over the twelve days. 12,000 litres of drinks were served and 600 active athletes took part in the tournaments.

So now preparations are underway for the Summer Feeling at Unistrand 2024, which is to be the first in six years. The date has already been set: from 13 to 24 June 2024, the sand will be in the Rondell - so that summer can come to Germany's most beautiful campus.
