The junior professor is not only looking forward to working with colleagues and students of the auditor option at the Faculty of Law, Business & Economics, but also to his new home. "The historic city centre in combination with the flair of the young university city and our university campus make Bayreuth extremely liveable", Prof. Dr. Sven Hörner avers.
After completing his master's degree in Business Management in 2013, Hörner received his doctorate from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Würzburg. He worked as a research assistant at the auditing and consulting research group there, and that of controlling and internal accounting. He also gained valuable experience abroad, particularly during his research stay at the University of Florida's Fisher School of Accounting. Now the researcher is eager to get involved in the FACT grouping at the University of Bayreuth. "The close cooperation of the research groups, and the vibrant networking through the FACT Alumni Association made my decision to come to Bayreuth very easy," says Hörner. FACT Alumni Universität Bayreuth e.V. is a cross-faculty initiative in the fields of finance, international accounting, controlling, and business taxation, and serves as an interface between students, alumni, staff, and professors of the participating research groups.
In research and teaching, Hörner deals with various aspects of auditing, accounting, and corporate governance. His research focuses on investor perception of the quality of accounting information. These issues, which are likely to be more topical than ever, especially against the background of the Wirecard scandal, form the subjects of lively theoretical, empirical, and practical discussions with students.
