Four Bayreuth students were awarded the Technology Prize in Selb.
Technology Award 2021 ceremony (f. l. t. r.): Werner Gebhardt, Dr. Christian Münch, Martina Winterwerber, Andreas Bäumler, Prof. Gerhard Fischerauer, Sabrina Zetzsche, Torsten Müllner, Janina Rebhan, Herr Asperger, Christian Walberer, Prof. Ralf Moos, Norbert Pieper, Oberbürgermeister Uli Pötzsch
The awarding of the 14th technology prize took place in the summer semester of 2022 - as it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic in autumn 2021. With this prize, the company Vishay, a global manufacturer of electronic components, emphasises how important the engineering profession is to them, and how necessary good engineers are for the region of Upper Franconia. Professors Gerhard Fischerauer and Ralf Moos confirmed this view, reassuring the audience that most former award winners had remained true to their path of becoming engineers.
Four students were honoured for their outstanding achievements with prize money totalling € 4,000, as well as with a certificate and an award.
Actually, first place was shared. It went to both Sabrina Zetzsche and Andreas Bäumler. Third place went to Christian Walberer, and Janina Rebahn received a special prize.
Martina Winterwerber and Torsten Müllner, managing directors of Vishay Electronic GmbH, presented the prizes at the ceremony.
In addition to the prize winners, the Head Mayor of Selb Uli Pötzsch, the representatives from Vishay, the Bayreuth professors Fischerauer and Moos, and members of the jury from the Faculty of Engineering Science also took part.
