The Press, Marketing and Communication Service Centre is expanding its range of services to include several workshops. "We want to enable employees to easily take on smaller tasks themselves, which otherwise often fall to us in the department," says Jürgen Rennecke, who is responsible for student marketing, social media, corporate identity and corporate design at PMK. "Of course, we will continue to be the point of contact and will be happy to provide support, especially for larger projects."

Nevertheless, the UBTagentur is based on training employees so that they can market their degree programmes and research more independently. "The UBTagentur is a kind of self-help tool," says Olga Gassan, marketing expert in the department. "We have set up a programme that will cover various aspects over the next few weeks so that as many areas as possible are covered."

The first workshop starts on 5 December and lasts three hours. "Layout and Design" uses specific projects to teach students how to create posters or flyers in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, for example, so that they can be published in the University of Bayreuth's corporate design. The workshop is primarily aimed at faculty members, but also at administrative staff who frequently organise events in their department. Adobe CC access is a prerequisite for this workshop.

The three-hour "Photography" course will then take place on 19 December. There are a few rules that need to be observed in order to take "beautiful" pictures - even if you are "only" taking pictures with your mobile phone. Jürgen Rennecke will teach participants these rules in this workshop.

"Social media" will be the topic of the first workshop in 2024. The two-hour workshop will take place on Tuesday, 16 January and aims to teach participants which channels are suitable for which target groups and how content is created.

Video and audio formats are also becoming increasingly important in university communication. This is why the crash course "Audio and Video" on 30 January will teach the basics of these formats in four hours. In the workshop, participants will learn how to get from the idea to the finished clip. This requires Adobe CC and a camera or mobile phone with a tripod.

The first series of workshops concludes with the workshop "Successful course advertising with simple means" offered by Prof. Dr Claas Christian Germelmann: Finding - Winning - Inspiring prospective students". This will take place on Monday, 29 January from 10.15 am to 2.15 pm.

Registrations for all workshops can be made via ubtagentur@uni-bayreuth.de.
