Children's University 2022 - it was very nice!
In spite of tropical temperatures, the Audimax was filled again with children at the first children’s university in Bayreuth after a two-year corona break.
The topics of the KinderUni 2022 were very well received by the young visitors. At the KinderUni kick-off event on June 22, 2022 Professor Dr. Stefan Schuster lectured about "Caution - electric fish". It was clear that Prof. Schuster had at least as much fun with the lecture as the children. There was a lot to see at the KinderUni lecture on June 29, 2022 by Professor Eva M. Herzig on the topic: "Superpowers and Energy". Among other things, a plush monkey was shot down from the ceiling of the Audimax with a laser beam. "Mysterious mathematics - hidden in works of art" was Professor Volker Ulm's children's university topic on July 6, 2022, and Professor Andreas Hohmann also met the taste of the children with his lecture on July 13, 2022 "Professional in my favorite sport - how can I do it?" who had come in large numbers to his lecture. Parents and those accompanying the children could expect a varied program again in 2022. There was the opportunity to take part in various guided tours through the Ecological-Botanical Garden, all of which were very popular. The accompanying program also included lectures by four Bayreuth professors:
Professor Georg Herink gave a lecture on "Real laser swords - now it's getting dangerous" and was pleased that lecture hall H 13 was almost full. The H 13 was also well filled for the following presentations. In his lecture for parents, Professor Michael Guthe spoke about “Computer games – how do they actually work”. Professor Ruth Janal had chosen "Disinformation, hate speech and signs of addiction - on the regulation of social networks" as the topic for her lecture. Professor David Stadelmann gave a lecture on "Politics as a market".
This time numerous children who attended three or more lectures at the Children's University took part in the Children's University competition. 60 of them plus 5 child reporters received their prizes in Bayreuth City Hall, presented by Professor Birgit Weber (University of Bayreuth) and Mayor Thomas Ebersberger.
The prizes were donated by numerous companies in the region. The main sponsor is Sparkasse Bayreuth. Playmobil animals were sponsored by the Playmobil company, stuffed animals by the Sigikid, books sponsored by Breuer bookstore, close to Bayreuth town hall), book vouchers were sponsored by the vfm group Klaus Liebig, Pegnitz, guided tours by Bayreuth Marketing & Tourismus GmbH, vouchers for a visit to the Urweltmuseum sponsored by the Urweltmuseum, vouchers for a visit to the Therme Obernsees were sponsored by the Therme and vouchers for a visit to the castle were sponsored by the Bavarian Administration for Castles and Gardens and lakes.
150 of the child students were already able to look forward to free tickets to visit the Kreuzsteinbad, which Bayreuther Verkehrs- und Bäder-GmbH (BVB) had made available.
The work of the five children's reporters Lisa, Tizian, Alexandra, Morgan and Esther, who together conducted numerous interviews with the children's university speakers for Bayreuth media in the run-up to the children's university, also deserves special recognition.
