A view into the new rooms
Faculty VII has moved into the seminar and lecture rooms in the Alte Spinnerei in Kulmbach.
The University of Bayreuth's outpost in Kulmbach started in December 2017 with the opening of a planning office for Faculty VII. Since then, the development centre of the Kulmbach campus has been located in the former administration villa of the Kulmbach spinning mill. In the Fritz Shopping Centre, various floors or rooms with a total area of 2,800 square metres are used by the University of Bayreuth. A characteristic scientific working environment has been created here. In addition to office space for the professors and their teams, it is primarily laboratories for beginners' practical courses in biology and chemistry with extensive measurement technology, key labs and seminar rooms that can be found here. The university has also rented rooms at Kressenstein 15 and Lichtenfelser Straße.
Since 14 October 2022, however, the university has now also been in possession of the keys to the new premises in the Alte Spinnerei. There you will now find a library, a lounge area, seminar and lecture rooms, offices, but also a lounge for students. The canteen will also move in here in the future.
At the freshman welcome on 17 October 2022, University Chancellor Dr Nicole Kaiser said: "Since Friday, we have had the keys to the brand new seminar and office rooms in the Alte Spinnerei. Our students will be there for more than just classes, as it will also become a space for meeting and exchanging ideas through the lounge area and library, as well as in the refectory, which will open soon."
