Work-life balance: private life, career & health in harmony
Digital event of the Mentoring Network Upper Franconia on 17 January 2023.
The Mentoring Network Upper Franconia, an association of the mentoring coordinators of the universities of Bayreuth and Bamberg as well as the universities of Coburg and Hof, has again planned a digital event for 2023 that is aimed at female students and academics from Upper Franconia. We will meet on the big topic that occupies so many people: Work-life balance: private life, career, science & health in harmony.
This topic is often associated with the word 'exhaustion'. In this context, I would like to quote Franziska Schutzbach, author of the book "The Exhaustion of Women". She writes: "What mothers have to accomplish is not possible without exhaustion". And: "The exhaustion of women is not a stupid side effect in capitalism, but a programme." (https://editionf.com/franziska-schutzbach-interview-erschoepfung-vereinbarkeit-editionfplus/; 16.12.2022) This does not only apply to the care of children, but also to care activities for the elderly or even voluntary work. However, we do not only want to lament about "work-life balance" and "exhaustion", but to support the participants and find constructive ways to deal with it together. In addition to the joint exchange, we were also able to win over an expert, Prof. Dr. Niko Kohls. He researches and teaches health promotion with a focus on resilience at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and will give a keynote speech and mini-workshop.
Participation is free of charge. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Elena Köstner, Servicetelle Chancengleichheit für die Geschlechter, elena.koestner@uni-bayreuth.de or coaching-mentoring@uni-bayreuth.de or 0921-55-2192.
