"The Information Security  Awareness Week in the summer semester of 2022 was a complete success," says a delighted Prof. Dr. Susanne Tittlbach, Vice President for Digitalization, Innovation and Sustainability. "With the mix of online and face-to-face offerings, the IT Service Center was able to reach many users at the university to raise awareness of current threats in information technology and provide valuable tips for secure computer use."

With the return to campus after the corona-related break, Information Security Week has also returned to campus for the 2022 summer semester. In addition to classroom training, ITS also offered an information booth on the path to the dining hall where information security cards were distributed and questions about information security were answered. With the return to campus, the proven online offerings on the Panopto video server have not been scaled back, however, but have been expanded in the usual way.

Prof. Dr. Torsten Eymann, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the University of Bayreuth, puts it in a nutshell: "With every Information Security Awareness Week, the library of training videos on our Panopto video server grows, which all users of the university can access at any time. In this way, we are constantly expanding the range of training courses on information security topics. The training videos are of course available in German and English." Topics from the Panopto video server range from email and password security to information security for cloud services and business travel to security for word processing programs in normal use and use with macros.

The head of the ITS, Dr. Andreas Grandel, adds: "The information security cards are designed as small practical helpers that support you at any time when checking an email. They also contain the most important information on how to recognize an attack on your computer and what to do if it happens. If you have not yet received an information security card, you can find one in the display at the entrance to the IT Service Center or you can request one from the IT Service Center. Information security cards are also available in German and English, of course." The first users to receive information security cards were Vice President for Digitization, Innovation and Sustainability Prof. Dr. Susanne Tittlbach and Chancellor Dr. Nicole Kaiser.

Information Security Officer Ralf Stöber urges constant vigilance: "Without the cooperation of the user, an attack on a workstation computer is almost impossible today if the computer has the latest updates installed. For this reason, caution is required, especially with emails and downloads, so as not to inadvertently open the doors closed by the computer's operating system to attackers. Please apply the basic rules of information security every day in your daily work. The information security team will of course support you throughout the year in all matters relating to information security and would like to draw your special attention to important issues during Information Security Week."
