Nils Grosche studied law in Bonn and completed his legal traineeship in Cologne. He returned to the University of Bonn for his doctorate and completed his habilitation in Mainz before taking on teaching posts in Constance, Frankfurt am Main, Cologne and Göttingen. At the University of Bayreuth, he took over the professorship for Law and Economics of Health and Risk Regulation on 1 June 2023. This belongs to Faculty VII and is thus located at the Kulmbach campus.

"I think it's great that I can work in this interdisciplinary faculty," says Prof. Dr. Nils Grosche. "Here I can contribute my public law perspective, but also engage in a productive exchange with both colleagues and students beyond the field of law." He had already been interested in the relationship between law and economics and this was also central to questions of health and risk regulation. "The fact that I can now deepen the corresponding connections at the Faculty of Life Sciences is exciting and makes me very happy."

He sees the fact that Grosche will now primarily teach and research in Kulmbach and not in Bayreuth as a great opportunity. "You become part of a development process. That opens up a lot of scope for experience and creativity," he says. Establishing the new faculty at a new location is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity, he is convinced.

For teaching at Faculty VII, he is already planning the first courses starting in the winter semester. "I think above all the basics of jurisprudential thinking and an understanding of the European and global dimension of law is very relevant for students in Kulmbach," says Grosche. This is where he would like to start in the first courses.
