What does the University Health Management actually do?

Particularly obvious are the new table tennis tables that have been installed at various locations on the Bayreuth campus, but also in Kulmbach. These are financed by the university association. "We are absolutely delighted that they are so well received," says Pia Laemmert from the University Health Management. Racket lending stations are located in the RW Café, in the NW II library, and at the Ing and BCG departments. A table football table has also been set up in the RW building (RWI, ground floor). "Table tennis tables and table football are intended to get students - and of course employees, too - to get up for a change, clear their heads and get some moderate exercise," says Laemmert. "The primary aim is not to achieve top athletic performance, but to break out of the routine and integrate more everyday movement."

Breaking out of the routine mentally is what the nudging campaign of the University Health Management is designed to do. "We have put up small or even larger posters all over the campus," explains Dr Philipp Laemmert. "On them are various reflection questions that are meant to make you think." What gives me strength? Where do I find balance? What makes my day a successful day?

New since the summer semester are also the fact sheets on the tables in the fresh room. The nicely presented information is intended to invite students and staff to engage with healthy food in a low-threshold way, and at the same time the fact sheets serve as a conversation starter.

At the Meet & Eat table, which the UGM has introduced in cooperation with the Upper Franconia Student Union, newcomers to the canteen can also meet each other. "Whether they are foreign students or first-year students who have just arrived in Bayreuth or students who simply couldn't find a dining partner that day, the tables are explicitly designed to get you talking to other people," explains Laemmert. The aim is to lower the inhibition to eat alone. The challenge of getting to know new people, which has increased since the Corona pandemic, is also to be met in this way.

Not at all alone were all those who took part in the UGM's big event on 12 July. In the Summer Edition of the Campus Yoga Day, various flows and afterwards nice get-togethers took place in tropical temperatures. The UGM counted around 150 participants in this summer semester's Campusyoga.

Not at all alone were all those who took part in the UGM's big event on 12 July. In the Summer Edition of the Campusyoga Day, various flows and afterwards nice get-togethers took place again in tropical temperatures. The event was again supported by the AOK Bayern. The UGM counted around 150 participants in this summer semester's Campusyoga. There will also be several events in the winter semester to keep Bayreuth as a healthy and attractive place to study.
