He spent eleven years abroad and got to know various universities and research cultures. When he saw the posting for the junior professorship in Bayreuth, he had already returned to Germany. "It was not a blind decision for me to come back to the University of Bayreuth," Dorlach says. He knows the University of Bayreuth very well and can now contribute his Bayreuth experience in Kulmbach. "My P&E studies were interdisciplinary. So are the new Kulmbach degree programmes. That has a special appeal for me," says Dorlach. Philosophy & Economics has an excellent reputation, he says, and is a real brand for the University. "I’m keen to get involved in making the Kulmbach degree programmes brands in their own right."
In addition, Dorlach wants students in Kulmbach to feel they are part of a real community. "I would like our students to learn not only from us teachers, but also from each other. It’s something I hope to work on here at the Kulmbach campus."
