The Board of Trustees of the University of Bayreuth has a total of 20 members. They all stand out for their exceptional commitment. Frank Carsten Herzog is now also a member of the Board of Trustees.

"Above all, I want to be involved in the transfer between science and business," says Herzog. "My experience from research, founding, building up a company and an exit to a global corporation has taught me: science and business can inspire each other. This requires fruitful structures for the transfer of forward-looking inventions into functioning business models. The region of Upper Franconia is particularly close to my heart."

Frank Carsten Herzog completed his studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Coburg and graduated in 1999 as a Diplom Ingenieur (FH) with an IHK award (topic "Introduction of new sintering technologies into the rapid tooling process"). In 1997, Frank Carsten Herzog developed the LaserCUSING® technology, the powder bed-based laser melting of metals, from his studies. Based on his diploma thesis, he was able to apply for two basic patents for the laser melting process and founded Concept Laser GmbH together with his wife in 2000.

Frank Carsten Herzog is the applicant for over 300 patents.
